DIY Hot Glue Pencil Topper – DAY 7 of 7-Day Marathon Of Glue Gun DIYs

In this video I show how to make a frozen yogurt / ice cream / cupcake pencil topper πŸ™‚ using hot glue gun and plastic bottle cap. This is the seventh (the last) of seven videos from my DIY Marathon (July 9 – July 15).

DIY Glue Gun Pencil Topper - Marathon of Glue Gun DIYs - DAY 7

Yeah! We did it! 7 days of Glue Gun DIYs in a row! Thank you for β€œrunning” this marathon with me! I love you! πŸ™‚

It’s been planned as a DIY Frozen Yogurt Pencil Topper. πŸ™‚ But my boyfriend said it looked like a cupcake or an ice cream to him when I finished. LOL So let’s call this pencil topper Cup-Ice-Yougurt! Whatever – it looks yummy! πŸ™‚

To make this DIY pencil topper you will need:

  • a hot glue gun

  • a piece of paper

  • plastic cap from plastic bottle

  • acrylic paint

– I found using nail scissors to make a hole in the plastic cap was a great decision. The hole comes so perfectly round… Just open scissors a bit when twist in the hole.

– Instead of using acrylic paint – you can use nail polish.

Make it of any color (maybe your favorite flavour is pistachio, as mine, so paint it pale green), don’t draw sprinkles or draw them, or draw the strawberry or chocolate topping… Create your own pencil topper or even a few of them! πŸ™‚

Good luck! And thank you for β€œrunning” with me this awesome 7-DAY DIY Glue Gun Marathon!

Love. Create. Discover.

  1. I would love to make this, but I got hot glue in the thing you insert your glue stick in. I’m not sure how, but know I can’t push the glue stick in, therefore I cannot do anything with hot glue. Please tell me if you have any ideas on how to fix this!

  2. Sorry I didn’t explain it clearly. Maybe this way will be more clear. I cannot push the glue stick inside, because it is somehow blocked with hot glue. Do you have any idea on removing the glue?

  3. Lovebug, I have an idea for you. Try pushing the hot glue with a paper clip, needle, or just something sharp. If that doesn’t work, get a metal object roughly the size of a glue stick. Then, heat it enough to melt the hot glue. Push it through the place where you insert your glue stick, and the hot glue will probably melt. Good luck, and make sure, be safe!

  4. Thank you, Firefly, for the awesome suggestion. I tried using a paper clip, and it worked! Now I’m really excited because I can go try this DIY!! Thanks!

  5. You’re welcome Lovebug! Also, Idunn, fun fact, the hot glue on the pencil can act as an eraser. Although, I don’t know how the paint would affect the paper. If you were to leave it plain, or maybe use a white glue stick, it would totally be a DIY ice cream eraser.
